I am very pleased to be able to provide the brochure for the Aiki Kai Australia Tour to the 2016 IAF Congress in Takasaki City, then to Hombu Dojo in Tokyo and then to other tourist locations (Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Kurashiki) - two weeks in all - the second half of the tour after the Congress led by me as the tour leader. The tour and the Congress commence on Sunday, September 25 and the Congress goes to Saturday, October 1, 2016 (inclusive), but the tour as a whole will finish on Sunday 9 October.

In addition to attending the 4-yearly Congress at which all the world's most senior teachers are featured, you will be able to train at Hombu Dojo and see Tokyo over 2 days, including attending Doshu's class each day; next we will travel to Kyoto, where we will spend 3 nights, and have the opportunity to train in Okamoto Sensei's dojo - she is one of the teachers to be featured at the IAF Congress. We will then sample some of the cultural treasures in Kyoto - undoubtedly the location of the largest number of cultural sites in Japan. Following that we will have one night in Hiroshima, visit the Peace Museum, then stay in a ryokan on Miyajima Island where we will experience an evening cruise, and lastly visit Kurashiki, the best preserved Meiiji era town in Japan. Whether you have visited Japan before or not, this is sure to be a an Aikido and cultural feast for anyone attending.

You can bring a friend, partner or family member/s with you for the whole duration, or if they prefer, they can join the tour after the IAF Congress when we are in Tokyo, for a reduced price.

Note that all accommodation is included, as well as a Japan Rail Pass travel during the second week, but flights are not included in the indicative tour price - we can't guarantee flights without guaranteeing payment for a large number of tickets - and we won't know whether we get enough people until it's too late to cancel. However if you prefer, the travel agent we have retained is happy to help you with flights, but by all means look for better deals online if you prefer.

Hard copies of the brochure are being printed and will be available for distribution at the Summer School in Launceston.

Please note that in order to secure a place on the tour, you will need to pay a 10% non-refundable deposit by the end of February to secure a place, and the balance by 25 July. Please note that although we will accept further deposits later than February, this is always subject to availability of accommodation at our hotels - and there's a limited number of rooms available. So the earlier you pay your deposit, the better your chances of joining the tour. I am happy to put you in touch with people who have joined earlier tours led by me if you would like to hear about how previous participants have enjoyed the tours led by me.

By all means contact me if you would like more information, or contact the travel agent (details on the brochure which you can get by contacting me) if you want more information about booking flights or other travel. I really look forward to the experience of sharing this tour with you, if you are thinking of coming. If you are an instructor, please print the brochure for distribution in the dojo (large 11MB file) or (smaller 2.62MB file) - and fold in the manner shown in the attached jpg file (ideally two sided on A3).

Instructors can impart only a fraction of the teaching. It is through your own devoted practice that the mysteries of Aikido are brought to life.
